As head teachers and SLT, it is often the case that we are so busy with the running of our school or academy, that we forget to take time for our own CPD. The nature of the role has changed dramatically over the past 5 years though. Not only do we deal with budget restraints and a variety of government policies, but Covid-19 has left us adrift in a sea of information and statistics, wondering what is the best response for our students and our staff.

This is why a new way of thinking about our thinking is imperative! We are aware of how metacognition impacts student thinking, but have we ever focused on adult metacognition in order to grow our own capacity and capability?
